Study indicates Vioxx doubled risk of heart attack and stroke in cancer trials

"Researchers studying the effects of Vioxx as a cancer preventative treatment for patients suffering from recurrent non-cancerous colon polyps found that participants taking Vioxx for more than 18 months were twice as likely to develop cardiovascular problems such as heart attacks or strokes. There was also a higher incidence of hypertension, although it is not clear that these problems were linked to the drug.
